Measure for Measure – Ireland 1916

is sponsored in part by the British Council as part of the Shakespeare Lives initiative though the GREAT campaign

Shakespeare Lives is an unprecedented global programme of events and activities celebrating William Shakespeare’s work on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of his death in 2016.

It is an invitation to the world to join in the festivities by participating in a unique online collaboration and experiencing the work of Shakespeare directly on stage, through film, exhibitions and in schools.

It will run throughout 2016, exploring Shakespeare as a living writer who still speaks for all people and nations.

Fortune's Fool Productions is especially proud to be part of this world wide initiative celebrating Shakespeare's extraordinary works and we are incredibly proud to be sponsored by The British Council.

We are Fortune's Fool Productions

Fortune’s Fool Productions is an innovative, playful, socially conscious theatre company committed to producing entertaining & critically acclaimed productions of Shakespeare’s masterpieces, which are free to the public in parks and Irish Heritage Sites across Ireland as Summer Shakespeare at Irish Monuments. Run by international director, Stephanie Courtney, Ireland’s Summer Shakespeare at Irish Monuments is modelled after the world famous New York Shakespeare in the Park.

Fortune's Fool Productions is committed to bringing new theatrical techniques and approaches to theatre in Ireland. These approaches not only contribute to the success and acclaim of our shows, they expand the work of actors in our productions and contribute to the talent pool in Ireland.

As a free event, our shows appeal to everyone—especially non-Shakespeare, non-theatre lovers - of all ages, educational and social backgrounds. We also attract avid Shakespeare lovers and connoisseurs of great theatre.

"[(Not a Traditional) Taming of the Shrew] is a sprightly, energetic and extremely accomplished presentation from a (mostly) young cast who have the inestimable talent of being able to project effortlessly in the (chilly) evening air while also managing to give the verse its correct cadences, as well as displaying an irresistible energy."
